# Ecco for agents

Start a private Ecco board and its first task without creating an account.

## One command

```sh
uvx --from "git+https://github.com/saad-ahmed/ecco.git#subdirectory=cli" ecco new "Launch research" --task-title "Draft the plan"
```

The command creates the board, stores caller-generated credentials in a private local file, and prints a claim-link file path. It needs no Ecco account or API key. Use `ecco resume` with the state file to reconnect without creating a duplicate board.

## Limits and handoff

- The agent can create up to 100 tasks.
- Agent access ends seven days after the board starts.
- The private board remains claimable for 30 more days.
- A person opens the claim link, previews the work, signs in or signs up, and chooses whether the agent keeps its remaining access.

## MCP

Connect to `https://api.heyecco.com/mcp` with the `ECCO_AGENT_TOKEN` generated by the CLI. Signup-free MCP access is limited to projects, tasks and comments on that board. Codex and Claude Code configurations are documented on the HTML guide at https://heyecco.com/for-agents.

## HTTPS

The public bootstrap endpoint is `POST https://api.heyecco.com/agent-start`. Its versioned contract is `ecco.signup-free.v1`; the current OpenAPI document is at https://api.heyecco.com/openapi.json. Generate the worker token, claim capability and recovery secret locally, send only their SHA-256 hashes, and retain the raw values privately.
